Neshaminy School Board Reorganizes With Webb Still as President

The Neshaminy School Board reorganized and new members were sworn in Monday evening.

The Neshaminy School Board reorganized Monday evening in addition to new and re-elected members being sworn in.

Judge John Waltman swore in Ritchie Webb, Kim Koutsouradis and Susan Cummings following their November 8 re-election.

New board members Mark Shubin and Anthony Sposato were also sworn in before taking a seat with the rest of the school board members for the first time. Sposato was elected for a four-year term to represent Middletown Township Region Two with Webb. Sposato is replacing former board member Rick Eccles, who served on the board for 12 years.

Sposato said that he has a "commitment to see Neshaminy get back to" its former greatness.

Shubin, who ran uncontested, was elected for a four-year term to represent Middletown Township Region Three and replaced former board member William O'Connor.

"I am proud to join the members of this board," Shubin said after thanking his family and supporters. He said that he plans to be a "vocal" member of the board

"Members of the Neshaminy Federation of Teachers look forward to working with the School Board’s two newest members, Mr. Shubin and Mr. Sposato, on issues of mutual concern. Chief among these concerns is the long-overdue settlement of our collective bargaining agreement, which expired on July 1, 2008," Neshaminy Federation of Teachers President Louise Boyd said in a statement.

Following those members' swearing in, the board voted unanimously for Webb and Koutsouradis to remain as president and vice president of the board.

Prior to the board's vote, several members of the public asked for the board to keep the same executive team while reorganizing.
