TMA Bucks Provides 'No Texting While Driving' Signs for Bucks County Schools

The anti-texting law prohibits as a primary offense any driver from using an Interactive Wireless Communication Device (IWCD) to send, read or write a text-based communication while his or her vehicle is in motion and carries a $50 fine upon conviction of a violation.

“A key component of our work as a TMA is driver safety with a particular emphasis on high school aged drivers who are still gaining experience behind the wheel,” said TMA Bucks deputy director Steve Noll.

“We consider these signs a simple means of encouraging safe driving behavior among younger drivers on a consistent and long-term basis." 

TMA Bucks will be purchasing the signs through a donation from Senator Tommy Tomlinson’s office. Senator Tomlinson sponsored Senate Bill 314, which was approved by the Senate in November 2011 and was then signed into law by Governor Tom Corbett.

“The TMA is extremely appreciative to Senator Tomlinson for providing the funds for these signs that will likely save lives by encouraging students to put down the cell phone when driving,” added Noll.
