Keeping Our Children Safe: Learn How to End Child Sexual Abuse
Monday, March 25
4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
District Office Board Room, 47 Church Road, Malvern
Child sexual abuse is one of the most prevalent health problems children face with the most serious array of consequences. Presented by the Crime Victims’ Center of Chester County, Inc., Stewards of Children® is a prevention training that teaches adults how to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. The program is designed for parents, mandated reporters, organizations that serve youth, and individuals concerned about the safety of children. It is the only nationally distributed, evidence-informed program proven to increase knowledge, improve attitudes, and change child protective behaviors. One of the goals of the program is to educate/train all public school employees.
Addiction 101: Addiction Can Happen to Anyone. Let’s Talk About It.

Join this interactive conversation, hosted by community partner Be a Part of the Conversation, to address: why is it that some people become addicted, while others do not; what puts us at risk, and what might protect us or our loved ones; how to respond when we are concerned about someone’s substance use; and how we find recovery as individuals, as professionals, and as a community.

This program will help parents and educators to navigate the over-exposure to media and technology, as well as encouraging a healthy balance. A counselor specializing in adolescents and young adults will discuss ways that our children are being impacted by social media, the “misinformation highway,” the access to substances online, and more. Presented by Be a Part of the Conversation.
Raising Children and Teens to Thrive in a Challenging World

Join us for a special parenting evening with Dr. Ken Ginsburg as he speaks on “Raising Children & Teens to Thrive in a Challenging World.” Dr. Ginsburg is a pediatrician specializing in Adolescent Medicine at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and a Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He also serves Philadelphia’s homeless youth as Director of Health Services at Covenant House Pennsylvania. The theme that ties together his clinical practice, teaching, research, and advocacy efforts is that of building on the strength of teenagers by fostering their internal resilience. His goal is to translate the best of what is known from research and practice into practical approaches parents, professionals and communities can use to prepare children and teens to thrive.
