Air-Quality Alert Issued for Wednesday

Air-pollution concentrations in the region are expected to be at dangerous levels.

An Air Quality Alert has been issued Wednesday for the Philadelphia region, including Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties.

The alert, at Code Orange level, means that air-pollution concentrations in the area on Wednesday are expected to be at dangerous levels for a number of people, including children; people with asthma, heart and lung disease; and the elderly.

Everyone, but especially people who fall within those groups, are urged to avoid strenuous activity or time spent outdoors, The National Weather Service said.
