New Thrift Store Coming Soon To Lancaster Ave.

FRAZER, PA — A Philadelphia-area thrift store that offers free clothing services to people in need will open a new location in Chester County.

The Wardrobe will hold its grand opening at 11 a.m. Oct. 8 in the Lincoln Court Shopping Center (215 Lancaster Ave., Frazer). The store will replace its Exton Square Mall location — the mall closed in June.

It has been branded as the Malvern location, as Malvern in nearby.

"While we were disappointed by the closing of the Exton Square Mall and one of our most well-shopped and served locations, we are thrilled to open just 15 minutes away in Malvern," Executive Director Sheri Cole said in a statement. "The location should be accessible for our Exton shoppers, volunteers, and donors, as well as customers and clients throughout Chester County and the Main Line."

The nonprofit has several locations in the region, which sell donated clothing and provide it to eligible people in need.

Established in 1995 as The Working Wardrobe, the organization originally set out to help low-income women transition into the workplace with interview suits and support. It later became Career Wardrobe before rebranding in 2020 to The Wardrobe.

In that time, services have expanded to clothing for all settings, and all genders. But the focus of helping people navigate life transitions remains central, including people seeking employment, re-entering society after incarceration, moving into recovery or entering adulthood.

Eligible individuals can qualify for an appointment to get free clothing. These can come from referrals by The Wardrobe's partner organizations, or self-referrals, including people who are newly unemployed.

The new store will replace the former Goodwill Store and Donation Center.

The public can now donate clothing at this location from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The Wardrobe accepts casual and professional menswear, womenswear, accessories, shoes and toiletries.
