Introducing our artists for Malvern Community Arts Project

Introducing two of our wonderful mural artists...

GALLAGHER'S AUTO SERVICES/TRAIN STATION AREA:

Artist Dennis Goldsborough is a Delaware County native and has had a passion for painting for more than 40 years. Rural landscapes, historical buildings, portraits, and still lifes are among his favorite subjects, and he derives tremendous satisfaction when others make an emotional connection with his work. Dennis, who is most well known as a watercolorist, is a graduate of the Tyler School of Art, and has received honors in juried exhibitions. His paintings have a stunning realistic quality to them. An example of his mural work in Rockbridge, VA is shown.
Dennis, a resident of Brookhaven, has four children and ten grandchildren. He spends a lot of time in Malvern, as some of his grandchildren are General Wayne Elementary students.

Dennis's design for the train station area mural (on the back of Gallagher's Auto Services) will have patriotic themes drawn from Malvern’s history. He has begun his research with the Historical Commission, Memorial Parade Committee, and Paoli Battlefield groups. This particular mural wall has a unique shape and needs to have a bigger and bolder design to be seen from a distance. We will not be holding a community vote on the design, but we will be working closely with all of the Borough groups involved. Dennis is currently working on rough sketches and hopes to paint the mural before the Malvern Fall Fest in late September. We will share sketches with you when we can.

MALVERN PIZZA:
For the mural depicting Victorian Era life in Malvern, on the side Malvern Pizza, we will be working with mural artist Carrie Kingsbury. Carrie has been creating one of a kind murals for businesses and homes throughout the Tri-state area for over a decade, but has flown as far as California and India to paint murals. Her work was featured on the TV show Extreme Home Makeover Berks Edition and some of her more well-known clients include St. Christopher's Hospital for Children and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, as well as many local restaurants and schools in our area. You may recognize her work right here in Malvern, she painted the fox hunting scene on the side of the Great American Pub at the other end of King Street! Carrie's color rendering can be seen on our facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/MalvernMuralProject
Carrie will begin working on the mural in early May and you can watch her work during "A Mural in the Making" at the Malvern Blooms festival on May 5th.
