Malvern, PA (April 18, 2011) – The Phelps School celebrates 65 years of continued excellence in the education and socialization of young men this April 29 and 30, 2011 with a special focus on family legacy and social responsibility. In conjunction with its anniversary milestone, The Phelps School unveils The Phelps Paragon, scholarship to be awarded to a young man on an as-needed basis to uphold the five core affirmations of POWER on which The Phelps School was founded – think Positively, serve Others, seek Wisdom, pursue Excellence and live Responsibly. 

“Appropriately in conjunction with our 65th anniversary, The Phelps Paragon serves in the memory of my brother Timothy Ralph Phelps, who taught for 33 years at The Phelps School,” shared Norman T. Phelps, Jr., Head of School Emeritus & Chairman, The Phelps School.  “A passionate Civil War historian, world traveler, lover of animals and devoted family member and teacher, this scholarship celebrates Tim’s life by sharing his principals through the nurturing of future young men dedicated to continued excellence across all platforms.”

The boys considered for this scholarship must demonstrate diversity of talents, personal interest and a strong desire for learning. They will also show compassion towards family, community and others. They will seek to broaden their cultural awareness and exposure to global issues while in constant pursuit of personal and academic enrichment.  

In addition, The Phelps School is pleased to welcome the appointment of Stephany Phelps Fahey to the newly-created position of Director of Financial Affairs. The granddaughter of founder Norman T. Phelps, Sr. returns to her roots after pursuing a career in corporate law.  In this role, Stephany Phelps Fahey is responsible for overseeing the business office, development and school administrative support.  

“I am proud to welcome Stephany Phelps Fahey to The Phelps School as she exemplifies our mission to pursue a personalized education for the boy who seeks success,” said Michael J. Reardon, Head of School.  “Stephany’s advocacy for single-sex, boarding schools along with extensive knowledge of corporate law ensures the school’s future economic growth and academic prosperity.”

Stephany Phelps Fahey grew up on The Phelps School Malvern campus, attended The Agnes Irwin School for girls in Rosemont and then the Madeira School for girls in high school. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Denison University and her Juris Doctor from The Albany Law School of Union University.  Prior to joining The Phelps School, she served an eight-year tenure as Senior Counsel at Bain & Company, Inc. in Boston, Massachusetts. Before that she was an Associate at Goodwin Procter, LLP also in Boston.  Stephany Phelps Fahey and her family reside in Chester County, Pennsylvania.
