Another Perfect Weekend on the Way

Expect clear skies and comfortable temperatures.

By Steven DiMartino

High pressure located over the Ohio River Valley and the St. Lawrence River Valley will be in complete control through this weekend leading to clear skies and comfortable temperatures. The high pressure system will suppress a low pressure system tracking towards the Virginia coast to the south, keeping the clouds and rain over the southern Mid-Atlantic.

Today on through Sunday, high pressure will be in complete control with clear skies to scattered cloud cover. Winds will veer from the northwest to the northeast at around 5 to 10 mph through the period. Temperatures this afternoon will rise into the lower to mid 80s for highs. Low temperatures tonight will fall into the lower to mid 50s over the northern interior, upper 50s to lower 60s over the western suburbs of Philadelphia and New York City, and lower to mid 60s along the coast and in urban areas. High temperatures tomorrow will rebound into the lower to mid 80s. Temperatures on Sunday will range from the upper 50s to mid 60s for lows and lower to mid 80s for highs.

The area of low pressure over the Mid-Atlantic coastal waters and high pressure over the New England coastal waters will produce an easterly fetch off the Atlantic Ocean on Monday and Tuesday. While conditions are expected to be dry, broken to overcast cloud cover can be expected for both days. Temperatures will range from the lower to mid 60s for lows and lower to mid 80s for highs.

On Wednesday, a cold front will advance from the Great Lakes and will slowly drive through the Marine air mass in place leading to periods of moderate to heavy rain through the day. Temperatures will range from the lower to mid 60s for lows and upper 70s to lower 80s for highs.
