Be Fire Safe this Thanksgiving and Year Round
Cooking is a leading cause of residential home fires every year. Here are some tips to keep you fire safe!

With the holiday season rapidly approaching, it’s a good time to review basic fire safety practices – especially those that relate to cooking. Since unattended cooking remains one of the leading causes of accidental residential fires, safety in the kitchen and while using cooking appliances cannot be overstated.
Here are some general tips:
-Do not leave cooking unattended

-Keep all combustible materials away from heat sources. This includes stoves, ovens, grills, fryers, and the like.
-Do not use cooking appliances for anything other than their intended use.

-Keep children away from all heat sources. If allowed to help you cook, make sure they are supervised at all times. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) offers these age-based guidelines: Kids in the Kitchen
