Molly Truitt here. I am a freshman at Immaculata taking Contemporary Issues in Professional Writing. Last Friday, November 15th, IU hosted a free field trip to the Bryn Mawr Film Institute where students and staff members watched and discussed the original film All the King's Men. Alexandra Okoro, IU student and staff member at the Gabriele Library was very upset when she found out she could not go. "I wish I could go. All the King's Men is a great book that I read when I was a senior in high school." On the other hand, Jalal Hodges, junior, 21, went on the field trip and loved every second, "I will definitely go back to the Insitute. It was very comfy and I enjoyed being with friends watching it." The Main Line Media Times, reported about the reopening of the BMFI. Author Cheryl Allison interviewed the president of BMFI, Juliet Goodfriend, who said, "These are 'not the softest' of the seats that were considered." While seating is not ideal from my own experience, after a while sitting there, they became very comfortable during the film. After the film, the students were also allowed to stay and discuss the making of it. Dr. Andrew Douglas, an educator from The BMFI said, "It's not what year the film was made, it's about the setting that the film was about." This statement is true for many big hit films, especially All the King's Men. For further information about the Bryn Mawr Film Institute, view the website, www.brynmawrfilm.org.
