Bus Driver Accused Of Sexual Assault Headed To Trial

A 74-year-old public school bus driver in Bucks County who has been charged with sexually assaulting two special needs students is headed to trial.

James C. McIntyre, 74, a former Pennridge School District driver, waived his preliminary hearing Monday, the Intelligencer reported.

According to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s office, McIntyre repeatedly had “indecent contact” with a 14-year-old and a 22-year old during a six-year span beginning in 2009 and going through 2015.

McIntyre, who picked the females up from their Bucks County homes and drove them to the Vanguard School in Chester County, inappropriately touched both victims over their clothes and had them touch him, authorities said.

The indecent acts occurred “while the van was stopped at various traffic lights in Montgomery County while McIntyre drove the victims to and from school,” the Montgomery County District Attorney’s office said in a statement.

McIntyre was charged in January following a joint investigation by authorities in Bucks, Montgomery and Chester counties.

McIntyre is currently being held at Montgomery County Prison.

He is charged with institutional sexual assault, indecent assault, indecent exposure, endangering the welfare of children, corruption of minors and unlawful contact with a minor.
