Classic Dark Comedy comes to Footlighters Theater in time for Halloween!

ARSENIC AND OLD LACE is a skillful mix of the farcical and the macabre, a beloved, fun-filled production you can enjoy time and again.

Berwyn, PA – Who doesn’t like an evening of fun and suspense all wrapped into one, especially in the weeks leading up to Halloween! The Main Line’s oldest community theater brings to life all the hilarity that only two crazy old spinsters can bring with its production of the classic, ARSENIC AND OLD LACE.

Footlighters Theater on Main Avenue in Berwyn opens the classic production on Friday, October 21st for a three weekend run. Known by most from the Cary Grant film of the same name, the 1941 Joseph Kesselring play is a clever combination of the farcical and the macabre, centering on two elderly sisters who are famous in their Brooklyn neighborhood for their numerous acts of charity. Unfortunately, their charity includes poisoning lonely old men who come to their home looking for lodging. Add to the mix a mentally challenged nephew who thinks he is Teddy Roosevelt, another newlywed/drama critic nephew and a third who just escaped from a mental institution and you have a skillful mixture of comedy and mayhem.

Director Carl Lotz has gathered a laugh-heavy cast of a dozen local thespians to bring this craziness to life including Barbara Bibby, Phyllis Blair, Vahan Berberian, Alan Mennig, Lauren Kirchner, Ryan Kirchner, Chris Moran, Gunter Moeller, Brian Jedinak, Robert Lotz , Art Klein and David Ellis.
