Defend Freedom of the Press in the Philippines
Be a human rights hero! Join Amnesty International USA Group 342 in Malvern.

Maria Ressa has been arrested. Again. Her crime? Publishing the truth in the newspaper Rappler. This is the second time Maria has been arrested in a matter of weeks. Rappler has been a consistent critic of President Rodrigo Duterte and his administration, and Maria’s arrest appears to be part of a broader campaign to silence critics of the government.
Help us fight for Maria and for freedom of the press in the Philippines. We are Amnesty International, and our campaigns on behalf of those unjustly imprisoned and persecuted get results. For instance, on March 26, 2019, Egyptian activist Islam Khalil was released on probation after more than a year in arbitrary detention.
Join Amnesty International USA Group 342 at our next meeting on Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at 7:30pm. You can find us in Wegman's café, 50 Foundry Way (at Rt. 29), Malvern, PA 19355 USA. For more information, contact barbquin at gmail.com. Can't come to a meeting? Visit the Amnesty International USA website and send a petition on behalf of a prisoner of conscience.
