East Whiteland Township has formally banned the burning of recyclables in an ordinance, they announced Thursday.
The ordinance was published on the township website and also includes the banning of of construction materials and demolition waste, along with any refuse.
Burning these items poses a hazard for out of control fires, as well as inhaling harmful chemicals.

The ordinance also forbids the burning of leaves, as fall draws nearer.
Curbside leave collection runs from October 7 through October 9.
