Enjoy the Memorial Day Weekend with Safety in Mind

For many, Memorial Day weekend marks the unofficial start of the summer season.  As the weather warms outdoor activities increase, and with the increase in activities comes seasonal risks we must also consider.

Earlier this week my Fire Marshal's Corner Blog, I provided you with some timely information on swimming pool safety and grilling safety.  The Disaster Resilient Communities Group (DRC) provides even more information on a variety of safety and preparedness topics as well. I’d like you to take a minute to check out their Web Site which contains many “Just in Time Training” videos produced by various organizations that discuss safety and preparedness tips in a quick but focused video format.

Here are a few links to some Just in Time Training that you will find useful as you prepared for the weekend’s festivities:

Please take the time to learn more about how to enjoy your recreational activities in a safe manner.  Lastly, as you get together with family and friends to enjoy the freedom we all have, take a moment to reflect on the folks that have come before us, that currently serve, and that will serve in the future to ensure our way of life.  The freedoms we enjoy are a result of their sacrifice, commitment and dedication.

Have a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day Weekend!
