Former Sports Broadcaster Pleads Guilty to Fraud Charges

Don Tollefson's fraud scheme victimized charities, including some in Bucks County.

Philadelphia sports broadcaster Don Tollefson has pleaded guilty to a more than $300,000 fraud scheme that victimized charities, including some in Bucks County.

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Tollefson, 61, appeared in court in Doylestown on Monday. Sentencing was deferred for 60 days, the publication reported.

Tollefson was arrested by Warminster Township police in February after victims told police he sold them nonexistent ticket packages and said the money would go to charity.

One of the events included in the investigation was Tollefson’s participation as emcee of the Officer Brad Fox 5K Run/Walk at Warminster Community Park in April 2013.

Tollefson, as emcee of the event, allegedly sold football ticket packages and said he would donate half the proceeds to the Fox Children’s Fund, with the other half going to his own nonprofits.

Race organizers told authorities they never received money from Tollefson.
