Great Valley Schools Offering Breakfast, Lunch To All Students

Students in the Great Valley School District can get breakfast and lunch during the closure, regardless of income or home school.

MALVERN, PA — With schools in Pennsylvania closed for at least two weeks, Great Valley School District is offering a meal program for district students.

"While our schools are closed, the Great Valley School District is committed to supporting our families who may be in need of meals," Superintendent Regina Speaker Palubinsky said in a letter to the community. "To that end, the Food and Nutrition Services Department will make meals available for students over the next two weeks."

Breakfast and lunch will be distributed at no cost to all students — regardless of income or home school — who live in the Great Valley School District at the Samuel and M. Elizabeth Burke Community Park in Malvern Borough, near St. Pat’s Church.

A distribution tent will be set up to distribute the meals from 10 a.m. to noon Monday through Thursday, from March 16 through March 27.

Only one day’s meals may be picked up per day.

This program is anonymous. Names will not be collected. We will simply be recording the number of meals we distribute.

Families who want to support this effort can make monetary donations to the GVSD Education Foundation, earmarked “food program,” and mailed to GVSD Education Foundation, c/o GVSD, 47 Church Road, Malvern, PA 19355.

"We look forward to providing this program for as long as we are able while schools remain closed," Palubinsky said. "Like many things in this situation, information is ever-evolving. We will continue to communicate updates with you as they become available."
