ICYMI: Is Malvern One Of The 100 Most 'Dangerous' Towns In PA?
A new study made some surprising selections based on FBI crime data. What do you think about the list?

Editor’s note: this story was previously published in Patch on December 23.
Yet another list has come out, and it isn’t the most flattering.
Roadsnacks, a data compiler website that specializes in creating lists that rate communities on how ”snobby” or “redneck” they are, has now compiled a list that rates the most “dangerous” towns in several states - including Pennsylvania.

Roadsnacks.net, which recently provided a list of N.J. Towns with the highest rate of Ashley Madison ”cheaters,” has compiled the list using FBI crime data, specifically from the FBI’s Uniform Crime Report. That report focuses on violent crimes and property crimes.
The study also only considered towns which had a population over 10,000 in 2013, That left a total of 100 towns.

Though the list bills itself as a ranking of the “most dangerous,” that title could be seen as misleading when the raw number of towns analyzed is not that much larger than the number of towns on the list below.
That assumption would be fair. The ranking of suburban communities in southeastern Pennsylvania as among the area’s most “redneck” in October left some scratching their heads. Phoenixville even made the list.
Rather than seeing this latest analysis by Roadsnacks as a hard and fast judge of where you are in the most danger at any given time, it could instead be considered as a way to view the comparative safety - using one particular set of methods - of towns in Pennsylvania.
Several Montgomery County and Chester County towns made the list. Pottstown came in at third overall to lead the local area, followed by Philadelphia (5) and Norristown (17).
Lansdale is ranked 83rd.
