Inquirer Obituary: Willistown Lawyer H. Peter Somers, 88
Somers, a founder of Willistown Conservation Trust, left Germany as a child to escape the Nazis.
The Philadelphia Inquirer published an obituary for H. Peter Somers, a Willistown Township resident who passed away June 17. In addition to being a senior partner at the law firm of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius in Philadelphia, Somers was a devoted equestrian and conservationist who helped to found Willistown Conservation Trust.
Somers and his mother emigrated to America from Nazi Germany in 1936, and he went on to serve in Army intelligence during World War II.

After his discharge, he earned a master's degree in economics from the University of Iowa and graduated from Harvard Law School, where he was a member of the law review.
He and his wife, Claudia Schutte Somers, were married for 55 years. They were schoolmates in Berlin and met again when he was stationed there with the Army at the end of World War II. They married in 1947 and raised a family as well as horses, chickens, and rabbits in Willistown Township.
