IRS Scam Hits Malvern Area
Police are warning residents to be aware of a yet another phone scam in the area.

The Spring City Police Department is warning residents to be aware of a new scam hitting the area.
Calls from residents to the police department have complained of individuals calling posing as IRS Agents, indicating that they (the victims) are in tax arrears and asking for Social Security Numbers, Credit Card Numbers etc.
The police released the following response to educate the public in the wake of the scam:

First: The IRS Does not solicit to anyone via telephone to settle a tax debt via telephone. The IRS will send you written correspondence via United States Postal Service.
SECOND: the IRS will already have your social security number because that is how they track your earnings, payments, etc.

DO NOT FALL PREY to these unscrupulous criminals. Advise them you will be reporting them as well as their phone number to the police and hang up on them. Be as assertive as you can and if you have ability to block their calls do so. GIVE THEM NOTHING.
The phone numbers that come up on the caller identification are untraceable and are usually skip called from offshore call centers in Africa or South America.
One of the call centers was identified as CAMP on the caller Identification with the phone number of (360) 335-3137.
