Kids Eat Local: Restaurant Alba

Editor's Note: Kids Eat Local is a new feature that will run on Tuesdays, letting parents know how family-friendly restaurants are. Full restaurant reviews will still run Thursday afternoons.

We know how tough it can be to eat out with little ones. Patch wants to help you know before you walk in the door if Restaurant Alba is a good place to eat with your children.

Restaurant: 

Is there a kid’s menu? No. Roasted pork or grilled chicken breast are more standard options, although the sides of mushroom marscapone orzo or roasted onions and watercress may need to be substituted.  Many menu items would be a bit too adventurous for kids, unless they are used to dining on grilled octopus or rabbit agnolotti.

How does the restaurant deal with food allergies? The servers and chef are accommodating of special dietary needs. A neighboring table of repeat customers requested vegan versions of several items.

Is there a diaper changing station? No. 

Are there public restrooms? Yes—two single unisex rooms.

How difficult is it to maneuver a stroller through the dining area? The tables are spaced to allow for a stroller to pass.

Is the restaurant so quiet that any childish outburst will draw attention or is there enough noise that a small cry is likely to go unnoticed?  When the restaurant is very busy, the noise level could cover a small cry. At slower times, it would definitely attract attention.
