Main Line Event To Examine Impacts Of Military Gratitude
Does saying "thank you for your service" contribute to a perpetual state of warfare? A veteran will discuss the topic on the Main Line.

Does thanking military servicemen and servicewomen for their service do more harm than good? That's what an upcoming event at a Main Line library aims to examine.
Army National Guard veteran Evan Reibsome, who served in Iraq, will lead a discussion at the Easttown Library that will examine the effects of thanking veterans for their service.
The event will be held from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 7 at the library.

Reibsome will tap into his military experience, as well as literature, to critically look at the practice of civilians approaching military service members and saying "thank you for your service."
In the talk, Reibsome will dig into the phrase itself and discuss if it actually harms our men and women in uniform, as well as if it inadvertently contributes to a state of perpetual warfare in the 21st century.
