Main Line Man Competing In National Golf Invitational Finals At Sawgrass Next Week

Jim Wallace will head to TPC Sawgrass in Florida to compete in the Liberty Mutual Insurance Invitational National Finals.

A Main Line man will be heading down to Florida next week where he will compete in a national golf invitational final after securing a spot in the finals at a preliminary tournament in September.

Jim Wallace, of Devon, will compete in the Liberty Mutual Insurance Invitational National Finals at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, March 8 through March12.

Wallace is one of 240 other amateur golfers who qualified for the finals. Wallace earned his spot after competing in the Liberty Mutual Invitational held at Old Stonewall Golf Club in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania in September 2016.

In the finals, Wallace will be in a foursome with Tim Valluzzo and Charles Valluzzo, both of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, and Joey Stone, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

“These foursomes were among more than 12,000 amateur golfers across the country who generously supported national and local charities by playing in the Liberty Mutual Insurance Invitational,” said Nicole Guidara, VP,Manager, Brand Strategy & Insights, Liberty Mutual Insurance. “We sincerely appreciate these players’ efforts and look forward to celebrating their invaluable contributions to their communities.”

Two-time U.S. Open Champion and World Golf Hall of Famer Curtis Strange, honorary chairman of the Liberty Mutual Invitational, will interact with players during the four-day tournament.

“I am proud and honored to be a part of the Liberty Mutual Insurance Invitational,” Strange said in a press release. “In just seven years, this annual tournament for amateur golfers has raised over $45 million for so many worthwhile charities and the people that they serve.”

The finals are the culmination more than 75 charity golf tournaments across the country hosted by Liberty Mutual, as well as local and national charitable organizations that raised more than $8 million in 2016.

Liberty Mutual Insurance Invitational tournaments are single-day events featuring an 18-hole Scramble format open to men and women amateur golfers of all skill levels in the local community.

Each tournament is held at a prestigious golf course in that community and concludes with a dinner and awards ceremony.

Leaders from the community, business and charitable organizations run and promote the local tournaments with support from local Liberty Mutual employees.

Winning foursomes from each local tournament are invited to play in the four-day Liberty Mutual Invitational National Finals the following spring.
