Make Their New Year's Dreams Come True

Defend international human rights with Amnesty International Group 342, Malvern, PA.

What are you dreaming of in the New Year? A new job or hobby? A visit to friends or family? An exciting vacation? Atena Daemi is dreaming of an end to the death penalty in Iran. She hands out leaflets, organizes peaceful protests, and writes ceaselessly on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to get the message out. However, her dream has been put on hold as she serves seven years in prison. Atena is a prisoner of conscience, jailed solely for the peaceful expression of her beliefs. During its Write for Rights campaign, extending until the end of January, Amnesty International USA is championing Atena and eight other courageous women. We’re urging everyday activists just like you to send messages of hope to these heroic women and also to address letters to government officials in their countries demanding their release. Join the campaign. Don’t let these extraordinary women down!

We are Amnesty International USA Group 342, and our next meeting will be dedicated to the brave women named in the Write for Rights campaign, as well as other human rights defenders. Join us on Wednesday, January 16, at 7:30pm in Wegmans Café, 50 Foundry Way (at Rt. 29), Malvern, PA 19355. We make it easy to become an activist, even if you’ve never written a petition before. For more information contact barbquin at gmail.com

Can’t make it to our next meeting? Visit AIUSA’s Write for Rights page. Choose one (or more) of the activists. Use the letter writing tools to send her a message of encouragement and to address a letter on her behalf to officials of her government.
