Malvern Elementary School Student Wins Statewide Anti-Drug Contest

Pennsylvania Attorney General Bruce Beemer congratulated a student from a Malvern elementary school for winning.

MALVERN, PA -- The winners of the annual Drug-Free Calendar Contest have been announced, a local student is among the individuals selected.

Karim Ahmed, who is a student at the Great Valley School District's Kathryn D. Markley Elementary School in Malvern, was among 13 students from across the state who were honored. A total of 858 entries from 208 schools across the state were submitted.

Each submission featured original artwork which illustrated a drug-free message, and was selected for a given month.

"This contest creates an opportunity for the Office of Attorney General to connect with students and get them thinking about the dangers of drugs," Attorney General Bruce Beemer said. "We are extremely pleased that so many students took the time to help us share this important message."

Ahmed was invited along with the other 12 winners to the Attorney General's Strawberry Square office in Harrisburg, where they were guests at a luncheon.
