Malvern To Participate In Regional 'Classic Towns' Program

MALVERN, PA -- At a recent borough council meeting, Malvern officially adopted a resolution to participate in the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission's "Classic Towns" Program.

The resolution was passed by a vote of 5-0.

According to the DVRPC, the Classic Towns program works to spur economic development in the Philadelphia region's most historic communities.

"The Classic Towns of Greater Philadelphia initiative is committed to the growth, revitalization, and support of the region’s older communities," the mission statement reads. "At its core, Classic Towns is a marketing program that aims to promote the region’s developed municipalities and

neighborhoods as great places to live, work, and play."

Area classic towns include Phoenixville, Manayunk, Germantown, West Chester, Lansdale, Media, and Jenkintown, among others.

At the meeting, Malvern, authorized participation in the program for a two-year period. An official municipal resolution is required for a town to participate in the program.
