Malvern Prep Seniors Embark on College Athletic Careers

This year, 35 students from the Malvern Prep Class of 2016, nearly one-third of the class, will be participating in collegiate athletics.

With the calendar passing mid-July, college-bound student athletes are preparing for their upcoming seasons at the next level. This year, 35 students from the Malvern Prep Class of 2016, nearly one-third of the class, will be participating in collegiate athletics. These students were recognized at a special Activities and Athletics Assembly before graduation.

"We are extremely proud to send so many Friars on to collegiate athletics each year," says Malvern Athletic Director Kurt Ruch. "Many of our student-athletes go on to become captains and team leaders; that speaks to the strength of character of our graduates and is a testament to our coaches, teachers and parents."

During the Spring Signing Period, 11 Friars committed to colleges, they are: Mason Abate, Elizabethtown - Baseball; Christian D'Ascenzo, Ursinus - Soccer; Matt Lattanze and Nick Lattanze, Brown - Wrestling; Jake Mullan, Widener - Baseball; Andrew Panzo, Gettysburg - Soccer; Will Powers, Holy Cross - Basketball; Chris Savino, Scranton - Soccer; William Schaffer, Penn - Swimming; Josh Skroki, Gettysburg - Football; and Zach White, Fairfield - Lacrosse.
