Malvern's Vanguard Launches Education Program For The Disabled

A new website from Vanguard's Malvern team will help those with disabilities gain financial education and management skills.

Malvern, PA -- Vanguard recently celebrated the launch of a website that offers financial education, management, and planning for people with disabilities.

Vanguard CEO Bill McNabb, PATF CEO Susan Tachau, and Secretary of Labor and Industry Kathy Manderino all gave remarks and thanks towards the Vanguard volunteers, PATF employees, and residents of Inglis house for their time, expertise, and determination in making this website a crucial resource for those with disabilities in Pennsylvania, according to a news release from the company.

“Working alongside Susan and her team -- they were a dream client. We all learned how to work as a team and collaborate. The great thing about this program is that not only do we help a nonprofit, but we learn from them too”, said Diane Haltigan, a communication project specialist for Vanguard and member of the volunteer team who designed and built the website for PATF. “I will be taking things I’ve learned from PATF and implement them in my job today. It was truly a rewarding experience.”

The volunteers worked for more than a year in partnership with Pennsylvania Assistive Technology Foundation (PATF) to create a website that complements Cents and Sensibility, PATF’s money management book for people with disabilities, the company said.

The website offers interactive tools and easier access to information from the book, to help people with disabilities and their families plan for a more secure financial future, according to a news release.

The groups then worked with Inglis, which had originally facilitated the groups’ partnership, to test the website and ensure it is fully accessible.
