The Route 352-King Road intersection has been a hot topic lately, and East Whiteland and East Goshen have appealed to PennDOT.

EAST WHITELAND, PA — As officials in East Whiteland and East Goshen townships work to determine how to best address the Route 352-King Road intersection, PennDOT has been solicited for help.

A joint letter from both townships was sent to PennDOT recently.

In the letter, officials asked PennDOT for assistance in their efforts to make the intersection safer.

Officials are asking for PennDOT to examine two potential solutions to the problems created at the intersection, both of which deal with traffic signals.

One solution would add a four-phase traffic signal at each leg of the intersection, and add a vehicle detection system that would allow the signals to adjust based on traffic demands.

The other is simply adding the vehicle detection system.

Officials said in addition to providing input on those solutions, they welcome other ideas from PennnDOT.

Recently, McMahon Associates provided several potential changes to the intersection, but officials with East Whiteland and East Goshen are seeking only to make traffic signal changes, not physical changes to the intersection.
