National Wine Day: Malvern's Five Closest Wineries

It seems almost every day on the calendar is designated to celebrate something.

Particularly in the United States, where we celebrate everything.

According to Days of the Year, there is a National Ice Cream for Breakfast Day (Feb. 18), Escargot Day (May 24), and Drinking Straw Day (Jan. 3). Most of these rather insignificant holidays have no meaning, and our research could not designate an origin for Wednesday's day of observance, National Wine Day.

According to Turtle Run Winery in Corydon, IN,there are some health benefits to drinking wine in moderation. Moderate consumption of red wine on a regular basis can actually act as a preventative measure against some types of cancer and coronary heart disease.

While many will hit the nearest grocery or wine store for their obligatory bottle on this day of observance, there are plenty of local wineries in the area where you can get locally produced wines right from the source.

Although you may have to venture a bit further from the nest, a trip to a local winery could be an ideal way to observe the holiday. Here are some of the closest wineries to the Malvern area:
