Nighttime Lane Closures Set for 202

The closures are to accommodate concrete paving and median construction.

The following was provided to Patch by PennDOT:

Nighttime travel restrictions are scheduled next week on U.S. Route 202 in East Whiteland Township, Chester County, for concrete paving and median construction, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said Friday.

The upcoming work is associated with two construction contracts to expand 6.5 miles of Route 202 to six lanes between the North Valley Road overpass, which is just south of the Route 252 (Swedesford Road) Interchange, and the Route 30 Interchange to improve travel and safety and to reduce congestion.

On Wednesday through Friday (Sept. 3-5) from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., Route 202’s southbound right lane will be closed between the Route 401 and Route 30 interchanges for the placement of concrete for the new southbound bridge over Route 401.

On Wednesday (Sept. 3) from 8 p.m. to midnight, Route 202’s northbound left lane will be closed between Route 401 and Route 29 interchanges for median construction.

Motorists are advised to use extra care when driving through the construction areas and to allow additional time for travel as slowdowns may occur. The scheduled activities are weather dependent.

The Richard E. Pierson Construction Company, Inc. of Woodstown, N.J. is the general contractor widening the four-mile stretch of Route 202 between Route 252 (Swedesford Road) and Route 401. Construction began in April 2011 and is scheduled to finish this fall.

Allan A. Myers, LP, of Worcester Pa. is the general contractor on the $63.4 million project to widen 2.5 miles of Route 202 between the Route 401 and Route 30 interchanges. Work began in April 2013 and is scheduled to finish in 2016.
