Penn State Great Valley Hosting Chesco Landscapes3 Meeting May 1
As Chester County's next long-range comprehensive plan is being developed, various public meetings will be held, one being in Malvern.

MALVERN, PA – As Chester County’s next long-range comprehensive plan is being developed, various public meetings will be held. And one of those meetings will be held in Malvern in early May.
Chester County Planning officials said a meeting that will include presentation, discussion, and comments on various aspects of the Landscapes3 comprehensive plan will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1 in Room 131 at Penn State Great Valley, 30 E. Swedesford Road, Malvern.
County officials are seeking public input on the draft map, goals, and objectives at this and three other meetings planned for the spring.

The public and municipal officials are encouraged to attend the meeting most convenient for them.
The Landscapes3 draft map was influenced by the current Landscapes2 Livable Landscapes map, which identified growth and resource areas.

The map is available in both a PDF for printing and an interactive, online version in which you can zoom into your community and compare the existing Landscapes2 map with the proposed Landscapes3 map.
The draft Landscapes3 map has retained the same categories, but has been updated to reflect existing development and preservation in our communities, as well as proposed and planned development projects and preservation efforts.
At this time, the public and municipal officials are invited to review the map in light of local development and preservation patterns and plans.
"The online version of the map is a great interactive tool in which you can really drill down to how your community is designated," Chester County Commissioners’ Chair Michelle Kichline said. "The map allows people to see areas of growth, as well as rural and agricultural resource areas, as we work to embrace the unique characteristics of places throughout our county."
Developed under the guidance of the Landscapes3 Steering Committee and incorporating input from the public, stakeholders and others, the draft goals and objectives set the policy for Landscapes3.
The goals and objectives are organized around the core themes of Preserve, Protect, Appreciate, Live, Prosper, and Connect.
Viewing the county through the lens of these six goal areas provides a comprehensive view that allows for understanding shared challenges and opportunities.
The public and municipalities are now asked to review the draft goals and objectives in terms of how well they reflect the broad, long-term desired outcomes and the more specific targets.
Detailed recommendations will be developed over the spring of 2018 and available for public review at a later date.
"As with the existing Landscapes2 plan, we want to maintain our focus of balancing preservation and growth and ensuring representation of local communities, while also enhancing choices for our residents," Commissioner Kathi Cozzone said.
"We encourage county residents and municipal officials to attend the Landscapes3 public meetings and share their thoughts on the draft map, goals, and objectives," Commissioner Terence Farrell said. "We value the input we receive when we engage with communities, and that feedback will shape Chester County for years to come."
