The Philadelphia Water Color Society was founded in 1900 to offset the then common exhibition prejudice against watercolor. Chartered in 1922 as a corporation, it continued its mission of furthering watercolor art through varied exhibitions of elected members’ work.

The Society’s annual exhibitions continue to present the finest in watercolor as well as other works on paper. Over the years, those exhibitions have evolved into open and international events. Today over 500 international artists working in a broad variety of media on paper comprise the Philadelphia Water Color Society membership. The Society takes great pleasure in continuing our rich artistic heritage and welcomes you to join the tradition.
