Tredyffrin Township Police are cautioning residents to be aware of current phone scam in which the caller claims to be calling from the U.S. Treasury Department.

The calls are coming from a 619 area code, police said, and the caller has a Middle Eastern accent.

The caller tells people that he is calling from the U.S. Treasury Department, and that people owe money.

Police “urge residents to disconnect the calls if you receive these or any other calls similar in nature,” Tredyffrin police said.

No one who has reported the scam to police has lost any money, police said.
