Police: Father Didn't Report Son's Death for Days, Kept Body in Home

An 8-year-old Pennsylvania boy was apparently dead in his home for days before authorities were contacted.

A Pennsylvania man faces charges after he apparently did not report his 8-year-old son’s death for several days.

Jarrod Tutko, 38, faces charges of endangering the welfare of a child; concealing the death of a child; and abuse of a corpse, FOX 43 reports.

Tutko’s son, Jarrod Tutko Jr., 8, died in their Harrisburg home, FOX 43 said. Tutko Sr. apparently told no one that the child had died until the smell of decomposition became too strong, at which point he informed his wife of the child’s death, FOX 43 said.

It was Tutko’s wife who called police. It was unclear Sunday whether she lived in the home, whether she was the boy’s mother, and why she hadn’t known that the child had been dead for several days.
