Emergency services personnel constantly train to respond during these emergencies; however, large-scale disasters often overwhelm even the most highly trained and equipped departments. There are simply too many calls for assistance relative to the number of personnel and assets available.
This is why it is so important that you take personal steps to be prepared for the worst – to make sure that you and your family have the things you need to survive for 24, 48, even 72 hours without assistance from anyone.
