Three Pa. Residents Were on a Plane With Ebola-Infected Nurse

Three Pennsylvania residents are being monitored for Ebola after they were on a flight with a nurse who tested positive for the deadly disease.

The three residents under observance traveled from Cleveland to Dallas with Amber Joy Vinson, who provided care to Thomas Eric Duncan, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported. Duncan died from Ebola in a Texas hospital earlier this month.

The Pittsburgh Tribune Review quoted an official who said the three residents are from the northwest part of the state.

The three people aren’t showing symptoms of Ebola and are not under quarantine, the Inquirer reported.

“There has been no evidence that this strain of the Ebola virus can be spread in any way other than direct contact with an infected person or animal’s bodily fluids, so the risk to the general public in Pennsylvania remains very low at this point in time,” state officials said in a statement.

Ebola symptoms can appear anywhere from two to 21 days after being exposed to the virus. Symptoms may include fever, headache, vomiting, muscle pain, diarrhea and unexplained bleeding.

The Department of Health said Thursday has enhanced the Ebola section of its website at www.health.state.pa.us.
