'Unsightly' King St. Buildings: What Needs To Be Changed About Malvern
One very clear issue was brought up by residents in a recent poll.

Malvern is a quaint, historical town on the Main Line, with vibrant shops and a proximity to some of the best high schools and universities in the nation.
To an outsider, Malvern may seem like a suburban idyll. But no place is perfect. And there is still room for improvement, even in Malvern.
We recently took to the Malvern Patch Facebook page to learn what needs to be changed or improved in the borough, and to help start important conversations that lead to tangible changes.

And residents all agreed on one common issue.
The deteriorated buildings on King Street have to go.

“I would like to know why the Borough of Malvern does not take action regarding the unsightly building on King Street at the intersection with Bridge Street,” said Joan Yeager. It has been in that condition for years. It is the first sight anyone sees when approaching that intersection and is certainly not representative of what we would like visitors to see in our town.”
Yeager said she suspected that the building was not maintained.
“I would certainly think that the fire company would consider it a fire hazard and I have been told it is infested with rats,” she added. “The Borough needs to take steps now to correct that unsightly eyesore. Perhaps a bulldozer would be a good first step.”
Others worried how the buildings would affect the town’s appearance to people just entering.
“They are the first thing you see coming into Malvern and they are an eyesore,” said David Acker.
“There are a few on 352 near King that could use some MAJOR clean up as well,” said Amy Rowley Grochowski.
It is not known how long the buildings have been untenanted.
