Vanguard Breaks Ground On 240,000 Square-Foot Malvern West Campus

MALVERN, PA – Vanguard broke ground on its new Malvern West Campus on Monday, Dec. 18. The new Malvern West Campus will house 1,600 employees and feature a designed centered around sustainability.

The Malvern West Campus building will be 240,000 square feet on an 87-acre parcel of land, which is adjacent to its main headquarters.

By housing 1,600 employees, the new building will ramp up the headcount to 3,000, and more than 12,500 in Chester County.

The space will offer 300 collaborative working spaces and be situated next to two existing Vanguard buildings and connect the three structures.

"Malvern has been Vanguard’s hometown since we started back in 1975 – at a time when we had less than 50 people," Vanguard’s Chief Financial Officer Mike Rollings said. "Today, we have almost 17,000 employees across the globe, and we’re the second largest asset manager in the world. Part of investing in our crew is investing in the workplace and the resources we provide for them to serve our clients – this project is a great testament to that."

Erdy McHenry Architects and Turner Construction will design and construct the sustainability-focused building, which will include storm water management, energy efficiency, and increased occupant comfort with improved access to natural light and exterior views.

This expansion is Vanguard's latest commitment to the area, where it was founded more than four decades ago. Vanguard employs 12,500 people in Pennsylvania, and more than 17,000 globally.

Vanguard is one of the world’s largest investment management companies. As of Nov. 30, 2017, Vanguard managed $4.9 trillion in global assets. The firm, headquartered in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, offers 382 funds to its more than 20 million investors worldwide.
