Villa Maria Sixth Graders Celebrate Their Heritage

Villa Sixth graders celebrate their heritage on their annual Heritage Day

On May 15, the Sixth grade girls at Villa Maria Academy Lower School participated in their annual Heritage Day. Each of the girls researched the country of their heritage and created a display representing different cultural elements, such as holidays, sports, government, religion, and food. They then brought in good from their country and dressed in a traditional costume while giving a short presentation about their own personal customs and traditions related to their chosen country. Afterward, they celebrated each other’s heritages with family and friends by tasting the foods they brought in.

“It was a wonderful celebrations of our students’ diversity and family traditions!” said Mrs. Fox, Middle School Social Studies Teacher at Villa.

Villa Maria Academy empowers young women through leadership and service in the IHM tradition. As a Catholic elementary school, Villa is committed to the moral and spiritual growth of each student. As an all-girls school, Villa Maria differentiates instruction to the specific needs of girls, while integrating the latest in instructional technology.
