Warrant Issued for State Trooper Murder Suspect

Authorities have identified the suspect wanted for an ambush attack that killed one state trooper and injured another.

The Pennsylvania State Police have obtained an arrest warrant for Eric Matthew Frein, 31, for the murder of PSP Corporal Byron K. Dickson, and the attempted murder of Trooper Alex T. Douglas II.

Frein has been accused of carrying out an ambush attack at the state trooper barracks in Blooming Grove, Pa., on Sept. 12. A manhunt for the suspect has been underway in the dense forest of the Poconos,according to ABC News.

News reports say that State Police Commissioner Frank Noonan described Frein during a press conference as a practiced survivalist who received sniper training from his father, who served in the military for 28 years.

A viewing for Dickson will be held today from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Rotunda at Marywood University, Scranton, Pa., the Pocono Record reports. A funeral mass will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter’s Cathedral, Scranton, by Pennsylvania State Police Chaplin Rev. Thomas M. Muldowney. Burial with full honors will take place in Dunmore Cemetery.
