Witness For The Prosecution

St. Peter's Players present the Agatha Christie Mystery "Witness For The Prosecution"

For its seventh annual production, the St. Peter’s Players will present Agatha Christie’s blockbuster courtroom drama, Witness for the Prosecution, at St. Peter’s Church in the Great Valley. Performances of this murder mystery, directed by John Hunter Orr, will take place May 12, 13, and 14 at 8:00 PM. And, for the first time, there will be a matinee production on Saturday, May 14 at 2:00 PM.

This remarkable drama, best known for its intriguing plot line and phenomenal surprise ending, will be brought to life by a large cast of new and familiar faces to St. Peter’s audiences. The action is set in the law offices of England’s leading barrister, Sir Wilfrid Robarts, Q.C. and the Old Bailey, the famed Central Criminal Court in London. The murder trial of one Leonard Vole takes incredible twists and turns – right up to the final page.

Christie wrote the work originally as a short story in 1925 under a different title. Then, at the urging of an influential theatre producer, she adapted it for the stage in 1953. It was remarkably popular and in 1957, well-known movie director, Billy Wilder, transformed it into the 1957 hit movie starring Sir Charles Laughton, Marlene Dietrich and Tyrone Power – a favorite on TCM and AMC to this day.
