Work On Multi-Use Trail In East Whiteland Beings Monday

Crews will begin working on building a multi-use trail from the Kelmar Avenue tot lot to the Chester Valley Trail in East Whiteland Monday.

EAST WHITELAND TOWNSHIP, PA — A new multi-use trail is coming to East Whiteland Township, and work on the trail is starting next week, officials said.

Work on an 8-foot-wide asphalt multi-use trail in East Whiteland will begin Oct. 28.

The trail will run from the Kelmar Avenue tot lot to the Chester Valley Trail.

This new trail is intended to replace the informal footpath that exists today. The trail will be located on property owned by the Township and property owned by Haym Salomon Memorial Park.

Work will first entail clearing vegetation from the path of the trail.

Below is an outline of the project steps and their timing:

  • Clear vegetation (contractor) -October/November
  • Remove and replace or relocate swing set in tot lot (Township) - October/November
  • Excavation/sub-base for trail (Township) -November/December
  • Paving (contractor) -Spring 2020
  • Fence and landscaping (contractor) -Spring 2020

The new trail will be handicapped accessible and will be maintained after construction by the township's Public Works Department.
