1 Injured In Newtown Square SEPTA Bus, Car Crash Friday

Fire officials said the sole occupant of the car was entrapped and was taken to a hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.

NEWTOWN SQUARE, PA – A SEPTA bus and a car collided Friday afternoon in Newtown Square, injuring one person and shutting down part of West Chester Pike, according to the Newtown Square Fire Company.

The crash occurred on the eastbound lane of West Chester Pike in Newtown Square Friday, Nov. 10 at about 1:30 p.m., the fire company said.

West Chester Pike is closed in both directions at Ellis Avenue as crews remain on scene.

The driver and sole occupant of the car was the only person injured in the crash, the fire company and SEPTA officials said.

Fire officials said they are unsure of the extent of the driver's injuries, but noted they were taken to Riddle Hospital.

While the passenger count on the bus is unknown at this time, officials said the bus was not full when the crash happened.

The bus involved was a route 109 bus, according to SEPTA. Passengers on the bus were loaded onto another 109 bus to continue their trips, SEPTA said.

The car was towed from the scene, the fire company said.

It's not clear what caused the accident at this time, according to fire officials.
