Amanda Rose Barshak of Broomall has been named a member of the National Sociatey of Collegiate Scholars.
Barshak, a 2013 graduate of Marple Newtown High School, attends Towson University in Maryland.
The NSCS is "an honors organization that recognizes and elevates high achievers," the group says. The interdisciplinary organization is for first- and second-year college students, and is an invitation-only group.
Barshak is still considering her options, but is leaning toward a forensic psychology major with a minor in French, her family said. She plans to study abroad in France in the future.
