2017 Primary Election: Marple And Newtown Township Results

MARPLE NEWTOWN, PA – Surely you ventured out to your local polling place Tuesday for the 2017 primary election. Now that voting is over, it's time to look at Marple and Newtown township's results.

First, we'll give you Marple Township's results.

There were races for controller and tax collector, three races for township commissioner seats, and races for school board seats.

Let's look at the controller and tax collector races:

  • Township Controller – Kathy M. Yanoshak (R), 932 votes;
  • Township Tax Collector – John P. Capuzzi Jr. (R), 1,604.

Now for the township commissioner races:

  • 2nd Ward – John L. Butler (D), 91 votes; Robert J. Knapp (R), 258 votes;
  • 4th Ward – Bill Mayo (R) 230 votes; Democratic write-in candidates earned 80 votes;
  • 6th Ward – Susan M. Klinger (D), 96 votes; Michael K. Molinaro (R), 310 votes.

Now Newtown Township's results.

Claude Falcone (D) earned 533 votes and Edward C. Partridge (R) earned 928 votes for township supervisor.

The township auditor and tax collector races saw only Republicans running. The results are Republican Stephen G. Werner getting 932 votes for controller and Republican Marie Richards earning 997 votes for township tax collector.

Seven vied for seats on the Marple Newtown School District, all cross filing as Democrats and Republicans and voters were able to cast votes for four of the six candidates. We'll look at the breakdown by party.

Democrats:

  • Allison Corinna Kruk – 1,045 votes;
  • Nora Everett – 989 votes;
  • Harry Cade – 766 votes;
  • Barbara S. Harvey – 588 votes.

Republicans:

  • Kathryn Chandless – 2,035 votes;
  • Matthew A. Denucci IV – 1,917 votes;
  • A.J. Baker – 1,841 votes;
  • Barbara S. Harvey – 1,441 votes.
