23 Cited For Speeding In One Day: Marple Township Police

Marple Township Police said the fasted speed police saw on Springfield Road, which has a 40-mile-per-hour speed limit, was 74.

MARPLE TOWNSHIP, PA — Police in Marple Township said the cite nearly two dozen drives during a recent aggressive driving crackdown this week.

According to police, 23 people were cited for speeding on Springfield Road Wednesday alone.

The citations were issued between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday by four officers posted along the road.

Police said the fastest speed documented then was 74 miles per hour. Springfield Road has a 40-mile-per-hour speed limit.

The average speed documented was 58 miles per hour.

Additionally, two citations were also issued for equipment violations.

Police also targeted drivers who were tailgating and heavy truck violations.

Marple Police are one of more than 60 departments in the region that are participating in a statewide aggressive driving crackdown that runs through Aug. 23.
