5 Of 6 COVID Metrics In Delaware County See Decreases

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — Five of the six key coronavirus metrics have dropped in Delaware County, and the fifth remained the same, over the last week.

According to the Pennsylvania Department of Health, newly reported confirmed cases, the incidence rate per 100,000 people, average daily coronavirus specific hospitalizations, the positive testing rate, and the percent of people showing up to emergency rooms with coronavirus-like illnesses all decreased over the past seven days.

Average daily coronavirus patients on ventilators remained the same at 4.6.

Newly reported confirmed cases saw a nearly 25 percent decrease, with this week's number at 505, down from 672.

Additionally, the incidence per 100,000 people rate dropped by nearly 25 percent. The state reported 89.1 this week. Last week's figure was 118.6.

The county's positivity rate this week was recorded at 5 percent, down from 6.1 percent last week.

Average daily coronavirus specific hospitalizations are down to 33.6 from 41 last week.

Lastly, the percent of people showing up to emergency rooms with coronavirus-like illnesses dropped from 1.8 percent to 1.6 percent.

The state reports 307,052 people in Delaware County have been fully vaccinated and 37,647 have been partially vaccinated. As of Aug. 13, 17,181 people have received an additional dose.

To date, Delaware County has had 53,334 confirmed cases and 1,494 coronavirus-related deaths.
