5 Of 6 Key Coronavirus Metrics Increase In Delaware County

The only metric that did not see an increase since last Friday was the number of coronavirus patients on ventilators, which is none.

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — Nearly all the key coronavirus metrics measured by the Pennsylvania Department of Health have increased in Delaware County since last week.

The latest data from the state shows only the number of average coronavirus patients who are on ventilators remained unchanged at none since Friday last week.

Newly reported cases more than doubled, going from 102 last week to 231.

The incidence rate per 100,000 people has also more than doubled, increasing from 18 to 40.8.

And the positive testing rate increased by nearly twofold. Last week's rate was 1.8 percent, this week's rate is 3.2 percent.

The average number of coronavirus specific hospitalizations went from 4.1 to 6.6.

The percent of people showing up at hospitals with coronavirus-like illnesses this week is 1.3 percent, a slight uptick from 1.1 percent reported last week.

As of Friday, 275,132 Delaware County residents have been fully vaccinated and 30,371 have been partially vaccinated, state data shows.

To date, 1,470 people have died in Delaware County from the virus and 45,959 have tested positive according to the Chester County Health Department.
