9/11, Casket Flag Raising Ceremonies Sunday In Newtown Square

Local musician Martin Holahan will give four performances of TAPS, each at the time the four planes crashed on Sept. 11, 2001.

NEWTOWN SQUARE, PA — The Delaware County Veterans Memorial is hosting a Sept. 11 memorial ceremony and a casket flag raising ceremony Sunday.

The Annual 9/11Commemoration Ceremony will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m., and will honor and remember the lives lost in the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

The 9/11 Commemoration will begin with a moment of silence followed by a wreath laying in remembrance of those lost 21 years ago.

Local musician Martin Holahan will then perform TAPS at 8:46 a.m., when the North Tower was hit, 9:03 a.m., when the South Tower was hit, 9:37 a.m., when the Pentagon was hit, and 10:07, when Flight 93 crashed.

A Casket Flag Raising ceremony will also be hosted at 5 p.m., and will honor fallen Veterans for their incredible service and sacrifice to our country.

The Casket Flag Raising Ceremony, will honor the memory and services of two World War ll Veterans Staff Sgt. Donald Hall Glovier, U.S Army Airborne in Korea, and Lieutenant H. Eugene Vickers, U.S. Navy.

A government issued United States Flag that draped the veteran’s casket will fly high above the Delaware County Veterans Memorial.

Event participants will also have the opportunity to speak about their veteran.

These events are free and open to the public.

The Delaware County Veterans Memorial is located at 4599 West Chester Pike in Newtown Square.
